Hello, Im Rea

And this is who I am and why im using neocities.

I am someone who once wanted to go into game design as a career but abandoned that idea after witnessing the horrific state the industry was moving towards.I love all things Tech and have a softspot for the vaporwave and cyberpunk aesthetic.I love videogames and have done from an early age and I like some anime too though I wouldnt consider myself prolific watcher or even a weeb and I do like some normal shows and films too though I do have a dislike for actors and the hollywood elite.I also tend to be quite an isolated person and in recent years Ive definetly felt like a hostage to my own mind so I guess making this site is a way to help myself aswell as just do something creative.

Honestly ive always enjoyed making websites but I find alot of the modern website creation engines too greedy and cooperate as well as super basic where your site is almost guarenteed to look like someone elses.Neocities sites however can look incredible with one of the first ones I heard about being Wired sound for wired people which blew me away and while im not sure it was made in neocities another incredible site that got me into website creation was The Tsuki project which is in my opinion one of the best looking sites ive ever seen not counting sites specifically made to be art.Coincidently both of these are Serial experiments lain inspired sites too which led to me discovering that series which seems to be incredibly popular on Neocities.Ive also always liked retro things and the retro style of most neocities sites really resonates with me.I grew up watching the end of web 1.0 into web 2.0 and have witnessed the web go through tons of different design styles but the styles of most sites on neocities reminds me of the styles I would see when I was younger.When stuff was more simple.I guess to me that early retro sort of look is a comfort aesthetic for me in a way.

The thing I love about Neocities is how open and free it is.At a time where governments,authorities and even large websites themselves censor and control what people say online im glad Neocities is here allowing people from all backgrounds, political opinions, fanbases and intrests create websites to talk about what they want.The mainstream internet has became a very scary place in recent years and I honestly dont see a future where things get better so for now im glad Neocities exits to atleast give some of that freedom back.Censorship and spooky government bullshit is why I despise mainstream corpo social medias which have slowly became a cesspit with things like twitter essentially turning most of the world into drones who im pretty sure dont have real opinions. They just parrot whatever narrartive 'Their side' believes in.It honestly freaks me out especially since like I said,I dont see this getting any better.

I honestly have a ton of different opinions on web 3.0.I think that sense of individuality that the web once had is dead and has been since social media titans like facebook rose up.You have individuality there but its not authentic at all and the same goes for reddit,twitter,instagram and all the other normie bloated horrific sites ran by corpos.

Could web 3.0 bring that back? maybe especially with metaverses on the rise however from companies like meta its clear their view of the metaverse isnt anime avatars walking around with boob physics while someone with the avatar of Master Chief talks to someone with the avatar of Lain about their favourite game on a map designed to look like de_dust2 but instead it will generic looking humans walking around in safe enviroment suitable for everyone with nothing of substance.Meta (and any other large buisness wanting to create a metaverse) dont want something like vrchat for instance(regardless if you like that game or not I think we can agree its what we would want a metaverse to look like instead of something like horizon worlds) because in something like a vrchat metaverse their could be avatars or worlds that *gasp* shock and offend people which is something corpos are terrified of.Corperations (and governments too) hate self expression even if it harms no one and thats became abundently clear as years have gone on.

As for things like nfts...I dont think they are super satan cyber hitler like alot of neocities users but they are silly in my mind.I think what most nft bro people want nfts to be are kinda like tf2 or csgo skins but in every game and with more of a focus on them but these things are within a metaverse where they can be anything like statue or a picture meaning you can create anything and it can be worth anything however the obvious problem with this is that nfts exist before anything like a metaverse exists meaning this technology is at the moment a pseduo scam in my eyes.

What about crypto? its...fine, I like anything that takes power away from banks but I just think that crypto atm is a mess with lots of scams and problems going on as well as an overall image problem I think more people should support crypto and I think all you do going against crypto is support big banks which have fucked the world over before so yeah Im in support of crypto but I think it needs more time and alot more people to actuallyu know properly what it is.The fact that so many scams throw around the word blockchain really doesnt help cryptos image ethier.
